How to wear a bra the right way
Even the right size feels wrong if it is put on wrong. Five simple steps for a comfortable, all-day fit.
Loosen the straps first
Slip your arms through the straps and lean forward slightly, so you settle fully into the cups.
Fasten on the loosest hook
A new bra should close on the outermost hook. As the band stretches over time, move to the tighter hooks.
Scoop and settle
Gently bring all breast tissue from the sides into the cups, so the wire or cup edge sits fully around you.
Adjust the straps
Tighten the straps until they stay on your shoulders without digging in. Two fingers should slide under easily.
Check the fit
The band sits level, the centre lies flat, and the cups are smooth. Raise your arms: everything should stay in place.
Care
Make your bras last longer
Hand wash cold
Use mild detergent. If machine washing, use a mesh bag on gentle.
Never wring
Press out water gently with a towel to protect the cups and wires.
Dry flat in shade
Direct sun and dryers weaken elastic and fade colour.
Store cups nested
Fold padded bras with one cup inside the other. Never fold cups inward.
Good to know: rotate between two or three bras, and replace a bra every 6 to 12 months, or when the band feels loose on the tightest hook.
